Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Platform & Agent Runtime: Own and scale the Python layers for our agent runtime, remote execution sandboxes, and AI evaluation pipelines
• System Integration: Improve the reliability of asynchronous RPC and protocol boundaries between our Python services and proof tooling e.g. our opensource rocq-agent-toolkit (https://github.com/SkyLabsAI/rocq-agent-toolkit )
• Backend & Observability: Build and maintain high-throughput backend ingestion APIs, query interfaces, and comprehensive observability workflows
• Engineering Excellence: Define and enforce rigorous engineering standards for typing, testing, release cycles, and incident/debug workflows
• Leadership: Mentor fellow engineers and drive critical architectural decisions across our agent and platform modules
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of experience building, shipping, and maintaining high-quality production code
• Core Python Mastery: Deep expertise in async I/O (asyncio), subprocess orchestration, and WebSockets/JSON-RPC
• API Design: Extensive experience with FastAPI and PostgreSQL (SQLModel/SQLAlchemy) for production API design, alongside strong proficiency in Pydantic v2, schema-first API design, and building type-safe SDKs
• Multiple API Paradigms: Demonstrated experience building and integrating multiple API types, specifically gRPC and REST
• Agent Frameworks: Proven experience building or owning agent frameworks, including tool calling, run orchestration, and evaluation pipelines
• Testing Culture: Solid background in automated testing, including hands-on experience with pytest, pytest-asyncio, integration/contract tests, and establishing CI quality gates
• Production Observability: Expertise in instrumenting production systems using OpenTelemetry, structured logging, and trace correlation
• Security Fundamentals: Strong understanding of security basics for platform code, including API key handling, OAuth/device-flow style authentication, and secrets hygiene
• Polyglot Environments: Comfortable working within polyglot systems, with the ability to seamlessly integrate Python services with non-Python components
